No printing presses! Learn how to print with Gel Printing Plates to make monotypes, photo transfers, and backgrounds for unique pieces of art. Spend a day learning a variety of methods and materials you can use to make prints with this versatile tool. Gel Printing Plates are durable, reusable, portable, and flexible.
Materials to bring:
1 small 5 x 7” Gel Printing Plate by Speedball
Paper towels
1 pack of baby wipes
High-contrast black & white laser printed photos (instructors will provide instruction before class)
Options to bring:
Any POSCA Markers you might already have
A favorite drawing or sketch you’d like to replicate or work from
Any favorite Stamps you already have
A favorite Acrylic Brush
The following items will be provided by the instructors for in-class use:
Printmaking Paper
1 Brayer per person– 3″ (for in class use)
Acrylic Paint & Inks
Tracing Paper
Charcoal and Pastel Pencils
Stamps, Feathers, Lace, mark-making tools
NOTE – Please feel free to bring your favorite paints and brushes.

Artists Wendy Ahlm and Stephanie West will teach you how to use a variety of tools and methods to print beautiful backgrounds and finished artworks. This is a great class if you want to experiment, play with media and draw inspiration from the process. Wendy and Stephanie are known by Artisans students for offering great fun and joy in their classes. Beginners to advanced artists will be engaged and enlightened.
