One Day Workshop:  Make It, Take It: Craft Your Own Art Journal Masterpiece! With Stephanie West & Wendy Ahlm | Saturday April 12th, 2025 | 12:00pm-4:00pm | for $85.00 + Tax |

Learn how to create your own accordion-fold (concertina) sketchbook, perfect for showcasing your artistic adventures! Whether you enjoy pencil, ink, acrylics, collage, or watercolors, this workshop will guide you through using mixed media to fill your pages with creativity.

But that’s not all — you’ll also discover how to elevate your personal experiences, travels, and stories. Bring along a poem or memorabilia such as stickers, tickets, receipts, flyers, and photos to turn your sketchbook into a one-of-a-kind keepsake.

Come get crafty and leave with a beautifully personalized sketchbook full of your own memories and artwork!

Materials (Bring to Class):

• A pencil (H, B or 2B) 
• Scissors
• Two-sided tape or glue (any craft glue: does not need to be archival unless you want it to be)
• 1 fine point permanent Sharpie
• Eraser (your preference re: type. – Stephanie uses a Gum eraser)
• 1 Flat and 1 Round Brushes synthetic brushes – for example, a 1/2” flat size and #6 or #8 round
• Spray Bottle for water
• Paper towels

Options to bring:

• A poem, theme, collage-able images and art, photos, or an idea of any creation you want to add to your book. 
• Items you want to include that sit flat are also good. They could be receipts, a napkin, trip memorabilia, a ticket or an important sticker.
  
• Please feel free to bring your favorite paints and brushes.

The following items will be provided by the instructor for in-class use:

• Paper, Boards and Fabric to make your books
• Professional grade Sennelier watercolors on a small palette you can keep. 
• Acrylic paint and Acrylic inks
• White masking tape
• Paper plates (for palettes)
• Ephemera
• Poetry
• Gel Medium

Artist Bios:

Artists Wendy Ahlm and Stephanie West will teach you how to make an accordion book and fill it with inspirations. Students will make at least one sketchbook/journal in class and come away with techniques and ideas they can use in other sketchbooks/journals. Beginners to advanced artists will be engaged and enlightened.
