Image Transfer Mixed Media Collage in Acrylic by Cheryl Kelley | Friday July 7th, 2023 | One Day 3-Hour Workshop | 1:00pm-4:00pm | for $80.00 + Tax 

The collage workshop is a 3 hour mixed media class, focusing on the use of printed material combined with acrylic paint, pencil or other mediums.

We will learn a transfer technique involving inkjet prints onto raw wood panels. We will also include cut out prints, mixed media, such as fabrics, lace, newspaper, etc. We will plan and create a cohesive piece of art that will not have a “collage” feel, but rather, look like a finished painting.

This course will expand creativity and give the student the knowledge to make beautiful finished art without the need for drawing or painting skills. I will bring several magazines for cutting out images.

Every level is welcome. No painting skill is required for this workshop.

Cheryl’s teaching style is gentle and non intimidating. She seeks to build confidence in the inexperienced painter.

Materials:

• Art Alternatives Unprimed Wood Panel 11×14″ (to enable the clean transfer of images)
• Basic Set of Acrylic Paints
• Gloss Glazing Acrylic Medium
• Heavy Gel Medium (To Create Texture and Depth)
• Favorite Brushes and Palette Knife
• Any Drawing Materials you like – Ink, Pencils, Charcoal, etc.
• Scissors
• Any printed materials you may want to collage with, (you may want to resize and print specific images)
• Any other materials such as fabric, lace, newspaper, feathers, etc.

Artist Bio:

Cheryl Kelley is an internationally recognized photorealist oil painter. She has worked with Bernaducci Meisel Gallery in NYC, is currently showing with Anthony Brunelli Fine Art in NY,  as well as Tangent gallery in San Francisco. She is new to Santa Fe but has shown with Evoke Contemporary in the railyard. She is well known for her feminine, sensual and reflective paintings of classic cars. Her work has been featured in prominent publications such as the New York Times, the New York Sun, the Village Voice, Art News, American Art collector, New American Painting, and a host of other periodicals. Her work has been shown in museums and art fairs around the world. Her body of work of classic car paintings is monumental and she continues to be very prolific. Recently her focus has shifted to portraits and landscapes, and she hopes to make her presence known on the Santa Fe art scene. Over the years, Cheryl has taught private and classroom painting classes to children and adults. She enjoys creating confidence in her students.
