In this fast-paced two-day pastel workshop, Tobi will share her process for creating a successful color story.
Students will gain a deeper understanding of color relationships and learn a method for choosing dynamic color values to create harmonious yet dynamic painting. Tobi believes that one learns best by first observing then working independently on short and quick exercises. Students will explore techniques to layer and mix pastels using brushes while experimenting with the focus on developing color relationships. The last day will be spent working through a painting incorporating the color story and techniques learned in the hands-on exercises.
Tobi has found that by taking the time to create a color story before painting, frustrating errors and color corrections midway through painting occur less often. This allows the painting to unfold in a relaxed process.
