Buttonhole Technique Bookbinding Workshop | Friday October 20th, 2023 | $125.00 + tax | 10:30am-3:30pm | One Day 5-Hour Workshop

The Buttonhole Binding is a soft-cover, non-adhesive, exposed binding technique.  Unlike many other exposed binding techniques, the top and bottom stitching are done independently using two separate strands of thread. The stitch is wrapped around each section/signature onto the spine cover at the head and tail. The buttonhole stitch creates a locked stitch for each section which tightens the wrapping and gives the book a decorative border.

Each student will go home with a 4-7/8″ H x 6-3/8″ W x 1″ (8 signatures) Buttonhole binding book that they created.

Students will learn how to stitch their own book using this method as well as learn about paper grain, how to tear full sheets of paper, signature size and text blocks.

All materials and equipment for creating these charming books will be provided.
