One Day Beginner Watercolor Painting Workshop with Instructors Stephanie West & Wendy Ahlm | Saturday February 22nd, 2025 | 12:00pm-4:00pm | for $85.00 + Tax |
Learn how to paint with watercolors in this fun, foundational class. Fresh and clear, watercolors are pure color floating in water. They are easy to carry with you and easy to clean up. In class, you’ll learn about materials, color mixing, manipulating watercolors and other fun tools and techniques. Mix and blend your path to creativity with easy class activities to guide you.
Materials:
- a 2H pencil and a 2B pencil
- 1 fine point permanent Sharpie
- Eraser (your preference re: type. – Stephanie uses a Gum eraser, Wendy likes the Tomboy Mono erasers)
- One 1/4” Flat watercolor brush
- One Round size #6 watercolor brush
- A spray bottle for spritzing water (We highly recommend a fine mist bottle)
- Paper towels and small pack of facial tissue
- We’ll bring paper plates for color mixing, but feel free to bring your own palette, white plate or butcher tray to mix paint on.
- 1 silver spoon
Options to bring:
- Please feel free to bring your favorite watercolor paints and brushes.
The following items will be provided by the instructor for in-class use:
- Watercolor Paper
- Scissors
- White art masking tape
- Paper Plates (for palettes)
- Professional grade Sennelier watercolors on a small palette you can keep.

Artist Bios:
Wendy Ahlm and Stephanie West belong to the Plein Air Painters of New Mexico. Both have held leadership roles in the non-profit and like helping people who are passionate about painting. They each paint in watercolor, pastel, and oils and are experienced teachers.
